connection-target: either a parameter, state variable, or a function whose value is used by other neurons.  It is defined in the connectionTypes.txt file in each sub-directory for each neuron with the following syntax:

connection-target    :    associated-name-for-user

associated-name-for-user will be used later on in the network files when we describe the connectivity between neurons.
